Palm Oil Contains High Vitamin A & E able to Prevent Covid-19
The Indonesian government continues to update the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia every day. Until Tuesday (4/10/2020), recorded a total of positive cases of Covid-19 reached 3,512 people with a total number of deaths of 306 people and a total recovery of 282 people.
Some institutions also helped to predict the peak of Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia. For example, BIN predicts its peak in July 2020, researchers from ITB predicts its peak in June 2020 while researchers from FKM UI and UGM estimate the peak of Covid-19 at mid-April 2020. Based on these predictions, it means that the Coronavirus will still be lurking in Indonesia for the next few months and has the potential to cause more fatalities.
Therefore, the Indonesian people must increase awareness to maintain hygiene and health in order to avoid infecting the Coronavirus. Besides washing hands with soap, people are also encouraged to consume nutritious foods. Food products that contain vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and high antioxidants can increase the body’s immune system and body endurance so it can minimize the risk of infecting the viruses and dangerous diseases. A good immune system is also believed to be a best medicine that can cure Covid, because this disease is classified as a self healing disease.
Nutrisionist recommend to consuming food product that contain Vitamin C, B3, B5, B6, A and E to prevent covid19. The functions of vitamins are to boost immune system so can prevent infection of virus. Palm oil also contain high vitamin A and E. It means palm oil derivatives in food product such as cooking oil and margarine, can help human being to prevent Covid-19.
Palm oil contains a lot of beta carotene as an antioxidant and a precursor of vitamin A, so it becomes an important component for boosting the immune system. The content of vitamin A in palm oil is even more than other vegetables and fruits. For each same volume, palm oil turns out to contain vitamin A as much as 15 times the content of vitamin A in carrot. Even compared to the vitamin A content that found in bananas, the vitamin A content of palm oil is almost 100 times greater.
Palm oil also contains great vitamin E. The content of vitamin E in palm oil reaches 1,172 ppm, or higher than other vegetable oils such as soybean oil, sunflower seed oil and corn oil. The research of Man and Haryati in 1997 also showed that vitamin E in palm oil contained 20 percent of tocopherols and 80 percent of tocotrienols which is have a function as antioxidants. The antioxidant content is not only to functioning to maintain the body’s immune system and maintain healthy skin but also serves to maintain the function of cell membranes and protect blood vessels to avoid damage due to coronavirus that attacks blood cells and damages blood vessels.
The huge potential of vitamins makes palm oil a “biological factories” of vitamins A and E that is able to boost the immune system and help the body avoid Covid-19. Once again, palm oil shows its role as a miracle oil as a blessing that owned by Indonesia which can also help the Indonesian people and government win the war against Covid-19.
